CHINA’S FOOTPRINT IN OFFSHORE RESOURCES

CHINA is investing heavily in Zambia as it seeks to bolster strategic reserves of non-ferrous metals, It has also inked agreements for gold in North Korea, for nickel in Burma, for zinc in Mongolia, for bauxite in Laos, and it wants to fast-track exploration of copper with Western Australia’s Ord River Resources, in which it holds an 18.5 per cent stake. Luo Tao, President of the State-run China Non-Ferrous Metals Corporation (CNMC), explains China’s strategy . . .
