Vietnam’s 10 million international visitors in 2016 seen as new driver of the economy

HANOI - According to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam welcomed more than 10 million international visitors in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 26%. This was the best pace of growth in the region, withThailand estimated at 11% growth, Singapore 9%, Indonesia 8.5%, Cambodia 5% and Malaysia 4%).

Some 62 million domestic tourists also travelled in 2016, with total tourism receipts estimated at VND400 trillion (US$17.6 billion), directly contributing 6.8% to Vietnam’s GDP  (ATI).
