Thai Australia Business Network establishes out of Melbourne

August 1, 2017

MELBOURNE – A new business networking organisation focussing on Thailand, the Thai Australia Network (TAN), has been formally launched in Melbourne with the support of the Thai Government.

Thailand’s Ambassador to Australia, Chirachai Punraksin, told members and guests at the launch that Thailand and Australia had always enjoyed an excellent relationship, one that was further enhanced in 2005 when the Thailand-Australia FTA came into effect.

“TAN is an excellent initiative and will do much to build bilateral trade opportunities and commercial engagement – but most importantly facilitate greater understanding and appreciation of our Thai culture”, he said. “I congratulate and wish TAN much success for the future”.

The concept of TAN was initiated five years ago by Richard Lovell, Australia/NZ/Pacific Islands Assistant Vice President of Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), who will be a Board member of TAN along with representatives from Thai International, Bangkok Airways and SingAus (Sinha Beer).

Lovell says far too many business councils and chambers are rigidly focussed on strict formality and commercial outcomes, and fail to provide an environment that just allows people to connect at an informal P2P level. Further information from Joe Perri on (61(0) 411 112545  (ATI).
