August 26, 2015

TAIPEI - Agreements on taxation co-operation and aviation safety were signed on Tuesday by Taiwan’s Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) and China’s Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) during the 11th round of SEF-ARATS talks in Fuzhou.

The taxation accord covers avoidance of double taxation and enhancement of co-operation on tax issues. The flight agreement allows cross-strait carriers to use local personnel and facilities for maintenance services, safety and airworthiness inspections.

Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council Minister, Hsia Li-yan, told a press briefing that major issues for negotiation in upcoming SEF-ARATS meetings include the opening of reciprocal offices, an agreement on trade in goods, dispute settlement, and co-operation on environmental protection. www.mofa.gov.tw (ATI).
