Macao's neighbour Hengqin to turn into international tourism island

BEIJING - China aims to develop the Hengqin district in southern Guangdong into an international tourism island, to further integrate the Greater Bay Area, according to a report in China Daily. Hengqin, located on an island, is next to Macao.

The 106.46 sq km region is expected to become a global destination with a modern industrial system, green ecosystem and smart services, the report says, adding that a free trade pilot zone will also be promoted in the region. www.webershandwick.cn (ATI).
