IATA slaps inflight ban on laptops, calls for review

May 8, 2017

GENEVA –When announcing strong passenger traffic results for the first quarter, Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director General and CEO, has criticised Government authorities for the partial ban on passengers taking laptops inflight with them.

"The last weeks have been challenging to the passenger business,” he said.
“The laptop ban—implemented with next to no notice, no dialogue and no co-ordination, is testing public confidence in how Governments and industry work together to keep flying secure.
“Even as rumoürs persist that the ban will be expanded to other airports and regions, we are calling on Governments to work with the industry to find alternatives — to keep flying secure without such great inconvenience to our passengers."  www.iata.org (ATI)
