Hong Kong reschedules trade fairs as new COVID-19 wave strikes

HONG KONG - Because of a significant resurgence of Covid-19 cases in week ending July 12, and the reimposition by the Government of a number of social distancing restrictions on public health grounds, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has postponed the Hong Kong Book Fair along with a number of otsher events planned in July.

The HKTDC said it "would likely be difficult to perform contact tracing and imposing subsequent disease control measures for the huge number of people involved" in the Book Fair.  "The health of Hong Kong people is a priority," it said. 

Evente impacted are the Hong Kong Book Fair (original dates: 15 to 21 July); the Sports and Leisure Expo (original dates: 15 to 21 July); the Education and Careers Expo (original dates: 16 to 19 July)' and Entrepreneur Day (original dates: 16 to 17 July). These will be rescheduled. will be rescheduled.   

The HKTDC said a number of virtual seminars associated with HKTDC Entrepreneur Day (16 to 17 July), would continue to be broadcast live online as scheduled, with arrangements for the exhibition portion to be announced later.
